An AA Corrections Committee’s job is to bring the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to incarcerated individuals by coordinating in-facility meetings, providing literature, running correspondence programs and educating correctional staff on AA’s resources. Volunteers will have to pass a background check and be approved by the individual facilities. Committee members operate under the instruction and guidance of the Corrections Coordinator increasing the overall effectiveness of the program by carrying the message in their area.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Facilitate Meetings: Organize and conduct AA meetings inside correctional facilities, as permitted.
Provide literature: Supply AA books, pamphlets (like the “Pink Can” for inmates), and other materials to those in custody.
Education: Inform correctional personnel and probation/parole officers about AA principles and resources.
Volunteer Recruitment: Encourage and manage AA members to participate in these Twelfth Step activities.
